Dear family and friends
Well crazy news! I am still in my area!!!! Monday night Pres Olsen called us up and called my comp to be a Zone Leader. So after only 6 weeks here he had to leave this morning at 3:30 and yes I had to get up too. My new comp is Elder Lineback from Sandy and his a very big kid. He started off the mission at 350 lbs and now is at 260! He is about 6´7” so he is quite large. It´ll be a good experience to help him out in this area so he will be able to get to know it fast. He has about 15 months in the mission and will be our district leader. Pres told me that I´m am suppose to be training him how to do everything since I know how everything goes.Anyways I´m pretty excited for another transfer in this area. Thanks for all the letters telling me about all the fun things that everyone did for my birthday, Disneyland, snowmobiling, fixing cars (Elder Sweeten). Well lets start off telling you about last weekMonday: at 4 in the morning we went to La Falda (5 hr bus ride) to a house of a old guy that moved here from the states. He says here he can live like a king so why not live here. He has been feeding the missionaries for about 7 yrs now but doesn’t want to get baptized. He cooked us some amazing ribs and chinise food. Then we went back to Cruz del Eje to the area of the Zone Leaders and slept there.Tues: In the morning we had a Leadership mtg for all the District leaders and their comps. After the mtg we all ate at a restaurant of a member. We weren’t very smart to check the bus schedule ahead of time and ended up missing it by 15 mins and had to stay the whole day and work in their area.Wed: Was a normal day of work and then at night we had our mtg with the pres and we had Brother Quevedo come too. The whole spirit of the mtg changed when he came. He is so cool and has such a concern for the branch and the missionary work. That night I was just sitting up reading and someone knocked at our door. I answered it and this guy told me he had been listening to the missionaries before but his mom wouldn’t let him get baptized, but now he is old enough that he can choose for himself and wants us to teach him. I was just left shocked to think of how amazing the lord is and how he blesses us. I have heard stories about people knocking the missionaries door but never imagined it happening to me.Thurs: normal dayFri: We had an amazing lesson with Jorgelina, a lady that a member introduced us to. She had read 3 nephi 11 3 times since the week before. The only problem is she lives about 15min away on bus and the members out there aren’t that great of examples.Sat: MY BIRTHDAY!! Wow what a day. We had an asado at lunch time and then one of the members took us to get ice cream. It was crazy it was way over cast but we got fried!! Later during the day I dropped my camera in the water. That didn’t make me too happy but in the end I was able to fix it and everything works accept the flash, o well.Sun: The member that was suppose to bring the lady to church just left her, wow that just shocked me. The Lord blessed us in church with more visitors to fill up our sacrament mtgMon: Went to another little city about 15 min away on bus to see a less active family. They asked us to help them dig a sewage hole for them on Friday so we will get to do some service. That night we got the surprising transfer news. I´m excited for this transfer and hope we can keep the excitement that we had going for us. There is so much work to do and I´m so grateful for the blessings we are receiving. Thanks everyone for all the great letters!!!
Love Elder Veenker
