2/9/09 Letter and Pictures

Dear family and Friends
Well this short weekend has been the weekend of miracles! I swear the Lord has seen all the effort that we have been putting forth the past 4 months and has decided to pour out the blessings. I´ll get right into it so you can hear about themWed: My comp got here and we had our mtg with the branch Pres, not anything too exciting.Thurs: We went by the Rojas Family so they could meet my companion. When we walked in the girl was having her guitar lesson. The teacher looked at us and said hey I´m reading when nephi dies. I looked at him a little bit confused and then he told me that he is a member and just hasn’t been to church in a long time but is thinking about coming back. He is supposably one of the best guitarist in Argentina and he is a member. He seems like a really nice guy. He started talking with the wife and was telling her how she should go to church because its really pretty and the mtgs are really good. That family has so many people and reason all around them of why they need to go to church. The rest of the day we spent working and trying to find new people.Fri: we left the pension at 6:30 to go to another little city in our area to get some birth certificates for some investigators that live in La falda (another area in our zone). When we got to the city center place they told me that the lady was sick and wouldn’t be able to do it until Monday, but I needed it that day so I could take it to the Elders Sat morning. The guy told me there was nothing he could do so we just left. We went to do service at a house of a member that lives in that city. We dug what they call a black hole (where everything drains). We started in one area and within about 2 ft decided that we were going to hit water soon so we moved and dug a hole about 7 ft deep. I´ll send pictures. After the service I decided we were going to check for the certificates again. When we got there the lady had come in and the certificates were all ready for us. WHAT A BLESSING!!!. We got the certificates and then went back to the pension to change. Then we had an appointment with the kid that knocked our door the other week. WOW is this kid chosen!!!! I started teaching about the book of Mormon and he stops me and says “ya Joseph smith say Moroni and he taught him 3 times during the night and told him where the plates were, then he talked with his dad and his dad told him to do what the angel said. . . . .” then he told me that he had read the book of mormon one time and is reading it again. We put a baptismal date with him and he accepted it very happily, he´ll probably end up getting baptized on the 14th of march because he has to go to church 4 times first. He seems so excited to learn!!! After that we went with the Pres of the Branch and went to another city about 30 mins on bus away and taught Jorgelina the plan of salvation. The lesson went really well and then we watched finding faith in Christ while we were waiting for the bus to go by again.Sat: Woke up at 4 to go to Cruz del Eje for a Zone mtg. We had a leadership mtg first and the Zone Leaders treated me like the District leader instead of my comp so I ended up doing everything. Then we had the zone mtg and we were suppose to go back to Villa Dolores at 12:20 but the bus never went by, then another bus was suppose to go by too at 2:45 but never did. So we ended up leaving at 8:30 and getting back at 2 in the morning.Sun: Jorgelina missed the bus to come to church so she hitch hiked to get there with her little boy. She is very nice and really sweet. We had a great turnout of about 40 people. My comp gave a talk about a change of heart that was really good. I feel bad for him because he has been in the mission for about 15 months and doesn’t speak very well. I hope I´ll be able to help him out a little. Also a guy that lives next to a member came to priesthood mtg all on his own and nobody had invited him, so we are just seeing how the lord is leading his chosen ones to us.Overall the weekend was really great. The Work is really pressing forward here in Villa Dolores!
I love you all
Elder Veenker
