3/13/09 Letter

wow I just have to say dad i told you not to have any fun riding on monday but you just couldnt listen huh? O well it was still snowmobiling and it would have still been pretty exciting going down a hill like that without brakes haha.Well this week has been very hard in terms of the missionary work. Way too many missionary things this week.Mon: we were in villa maria with the other elders in our zone and didnt get back until about 9:30 so we didnt even get to work in our area that day.Tues: We worked hard in the morning going by a bunch of people that we had contacted last week, but ended without much luck. After lunch it was a lot of the same thing. We were suppose to have a lesson with the presidents daughter but she wasnt there. we ended up spending most of the afternoon knocking alot of doors and trying to find more people. It was really hard because this is the holy week here, which means everyone had guests over or werent at their houses. Wed: left here at 6 in the morning for Cordoba for a Zona Conference. All my olds comps but 1 were in that conference so it was fun to see them. 2 of them are going home this transfer (elder letlow and sarkis). it was a great conference. Pres olsen finished off talking about testimonies and conversion. He said a testimony is knowing and feeling, a conversion is knowing and doing. He focussed on that is we are truly converted we will share and do everything that is required to achieve our ultimate goal and to help others reach it as well. It was a great conversion except i had a huge head ache the whole time. We didnt get home till about 10:30. Another day not in our area.Thurs: Another day pretty much exactly like tuesday. in the afternoon we went out with david to do some visits and then had a mtg with our ward mission leader. The whole day i didnt have a head ache but stomach painsfri: Left the area again at about 8:30 to go to villa maria to have interviews with pres olsen. First we had lunch, when we sat down my vision started to disappear, i could only see things with alot of black all over. I still dont know what it was but Sister olsen made me just laugh when i told her about it cause she said just wait a few days and then we will see what it is, not quite what mom would have said haha. Anyways after about a half hour my vision came back but left me with a head ache. Pres olsen changed interviews around and they are only 8 mins each elder. you go in there and he only says what can i help you with. I guess its council from the area seventies. it was a good interview we just talked about the area. Got back to our area and again werent able to work that day.Sat: we spent the morning going by all the investigators and contacts we had made to invite them to church. we were able to get into a house and teach 3 ladies about he plan of salvation really quick. There are 10 people that live in this house so hopefully we can get to teach them more. in the afternoon we did divisions with david and the elder quorem pres to invite inactives to church. (it was another day of stomach pains, crazy)Sun: good day at church. we had quite a few little kids. we forgot to get food for lunch so we made some pretty amazing cinnamon rolls for lunch (thanks mom!!!). My head wasnt feeling good again but we went out anyways and gave the presidents family some cinnamon rolls and they wanted to take me to the hospital to see what was wrong with me but i wouldnt let them. After that we went to and dropped off a kids sweat shirt that he left at church Overal it was a very difficult week for the work here in las varillas but this week looks good and we are hoping all the plans work out that we have made.Sorry this email is late, all of the internet places were closed until now. Mom asked how to check internet in other countries. you can go to internet cafes or take your computer and your hotel might have wireless internet like at home. o more fun news. There is a big mosquito infestation here with this weird disease. they love me, i bath myself in repelant and still wake up every morning with bites. I feel like Elder Groburg in the other side of heaven when he wrote about he elephant mosquitos or whatever haha. Have a great week! i hope all is well with everyone. O and lori make sure Collin knows who is favorite uncle is!!!
Love,Elder Veenker
